Welcome and thanks for taking the time to look at my J.R.R.Tolkien inspired character illustrations from the Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and his other works.
I am Jay Johnstone, a designer, an illustrator and a partner in a marketing and design agency in Newcastle in the North of England.
I’ve been a Tolkien fan since my teens and have been an avid collector of his books since reading the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit at college. These Tolkien inspired character paintings are a very personal expression of my passion and love of his stories, poems and characters. A few years ago the team at onering.net displayed my paintings of Bilbo, Aragorn, Theoden and many others on their website, they were well received and got some very kind comments and my enthusiasm for Tolkien based character illustration was taken to a new level. I was asked if there were available to look at on the web........

The Tolkien inspired paintings are based on the characters from JRR Tolkiens The Hobbit, the Silmarillion, Return of the king, Fellowship of the Ring and Two Towers. Also characters from The History of Middle Earth. The Hobbit characters of Gandalf, Frodo Baggins, Aragorn, Eowyn, Galadriel, Arwen Undómiel and Theoden are all Tolkien inspired art.
